Class Systems
One of the major themes in Infinity Pool is class systems and the self-indulgence that Li Tolqa's visitors partake in. Gabi Bauer represents the excess of the upper class, she takes from all those around her and consumes relentlessly, with James Foster becoming her primary prey. James himself consumes naively; as an aspiring writer born to a lower class, the luxuries and opportunities his marriage with Em Foster offers mesmerize James, and slowly begin to blur his artistic drive.
